Job Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join NHS Tayside as Team Lead Occupational Therapist within a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit.

Role Focus

The role focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence-based OT interventions to patients in the early stages of stroke, supporting rapid assessment, early rehabilitation, and discharge planning. You will manage a complex caseload, promote recovery through early intervention, and contribute to safe and timely patient flow.

As Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and developing the acute stroke Occupational Therapy service. This includes driving service improvements, embedding best practice, supporting the development of new models of care, and strengthening collaborative working across acute and community pathways. Additionally, there will be opportunities to contribute across the stroke pathway, delivering clinical and professional support within acute, rehabilitation, and community services as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strong leadership, communication, and advanced clinical reasoning skills are essential.
  • Demonstrate excellent prioritisation, organisation and time management skills.
  • Supervision, support, and development of junior staff, nonqualified support workers, and students.
  • Fostering a positive team culture and maintaining high standards of professional practice.

Essential Requirements

  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Significant post-registration experience within Stroke.
  • All internal applicants must obtain authorisation from their line manager before applying.
