Job Description
About the Role
To be responsible for the day to day running and management of staff within the Physiotherapy Service. Working within the Physiotherapy outpatient team, taking the responsibility for referrals and treatment of members of the public into the Physiotherapy department.
To have overall responsibility for the training and development of staff. To take a leading role in the advanced assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex and/or chronic presentation.
To provide an effective high-quality service and take a lead role in supervision and teaching of physiotherapists/technicians/assistants.
To provide skilled team leadership and be responsible for service development within Physiotherapy role, using any evidence-based practice and national guidelines.
To implement policy and policy changes in own clinical area and to set and monitor standards of practice.
To undertake evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and to lead in appropriate departmental research in this clinical area.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with Service Managers to promote safe working practices and well-being of patients referred in accordance with the Health & Safety Regulations and Trust Policies.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the service and specialty. This includes input into the service annual business plan and the formulation of relevant business cases and integration with the whole Musculoskeletal service aims.
- To ensure designated staff implement policy and service developmental changes.
- To ensure that the service responds to national initiatives and policy within the framework of Clinical Governance including clinical effectiveness, evidence-based health care, managing clinical risk, and Research & Development issues.
- To work a rostered 7-day service when implemented.
- To advise on the management of frequent and long-term sickness absence and suitable rehabilitation programme were agreed or report back to Occupational Health team as appropriate.
- To be an active member of the formal departmental training programme by attending in-service sessions, delivering and attending training sessions both in house and externally and undertaking reflective practice.
- To be responsible for the Line Management of staff, including recruitment, career development, performance and work evaluation.

Locations and Opportunities
Roles available across the whole of West Sussex Brighton and Hove, which include full, part-time, fixed term and permanent opportunities.
