Job Description

We invite you to bring your enthusiasm and expertise into play as you establish, lead, develop and grow a design-integrated Security Consultancy capability within an existing Building Advisory and Consultancy service line. Join our team as our Director (Security Consultancy lead UK).

Your Role

As Security Consultancy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in developing and growing our team. You will shape new service offerings, strengthen market presence, embed security consultancy as a core part of specialist service and ensuring the successful delivery of projects, championing innovation, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. You will need to develop and maintain excellent client relationships while having great leadership skills with first rate communication to keep driving excellence and secure pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

Security Strategy & Design Integration

  • Translate complex threat environments into clear, design-driven security approaches
  • Define Operational Requirements and embed them into project outcomes from concept through delivery
  • Ensure security is fully coordinated with architecture, engineering, and user experience
  • Guide teams to deliver solutions that are effective, proportionate, and unobtrusive

Client Leadership & Engagement

  • Act as a senior advisor, building trusted relationships with key clients
  • Lead conversations that simplify complexity and enable confident decision-making
  • Facilitate workshops and strategic discussions across multidisciplinary teams
  • Identify and convert opportunities to expand service offerings and deepen client engagement

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing, scalable security team
  • Mentor and develop individuals across both technical and commercial capabilities
  • Define team structure aligned with growth ambitions and pipeline demand
  • Lead recruitment and integration of new talent

Service Line Growth & Capability Development

  • Establish and grow new security services within the Building Advisory and Consultancy offering
  • Position security as a core, value-adding discipline across projects and sectors
  • Develop differentiated capabilities in areas such as:
    • Urban and public realm security integration
    • Vehicle threat mitigation and protective design
    • Digitally enabled and smart security environments
  • Drive consistency in methodology, quality, and delivery approach

Technical Delivery & Assurance

  • Oversee delivery of:
    • Risk and vulnerability assessments
    • Security strategies, architectures, and technical documentation
    • Integrated system concepts, design, and requirements
  • Provide direction across:
    • Access control systems
    • Surveillance (CCTV & analytics)
    • Intrusion detection systems
    • Perimeter protection solutions
    • Security Management System (SMS)
    • Mechanical and physical security measures
  • Ensure outputs are coordinated, practical, and aligned with project intent
  • Act as technical authority, providing:
    • Design assurance and peer reviews
    • Approval of key security deliverables
    • Guidance on complex or high-risk solutions

Standard, Compliance & Assurance

  • Ensure alignment with UK standards and guidance including:
    • British Standards Institution (BS EN 62676, BS EN 50131, BS EN 60839, BS 8220)
    • National Protective Security Authority / protective security guidance
    • ISO 27001, NPSA/NCSC
    • Home Office (Protect Duty / Martyn’s Law readiness)
  • Apply Ministry of Defence standards where required (JSP 440, DIO requirements)
  • Engage with CTSAs and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and best practice
  • Organisational risk appetite and new security policies

Key Qualifications Required

  • Degree in Engineering, Security Management, Risk, Built Environment, or related discipline
  • Must be a UK Sole National with eligibility for National Security vetting at DV level
  • Professional certifications (desirable but highly valued):
    • CPP (Certified Protection Professional, ASIS International)
    • PSP (Physical Security Professional, ASIS International)
    • Register of Security Engineers & Specialists (RSES)
  • Extensive experience in physical security consultancy in the UK, particularly in Public Sector
  • Proven track record of developing new service lines and leading high-performing teams
  • Strong knowledge of UK security standards, CPNI/NPSA guidance, and MoD JSP requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to engage clients and manage complex multidisciplinary projects
