Job Description

Permanent, full-time position – 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

  • Full daytime availability required, with shift start times between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM and finish times between 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM, depending on the rota.
  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a busy restaurant section, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, support and direction to the restaurant team, leading by example during busy service periods.
  • Coach, motivate and develop team members, maintaining high standards of service, presentation and customer experience.
  • Take responsibility for stock management, including regular stock counts, monitoring stock levels, placing orders and managing deliveries.
  • Monitor wastage, portion control and product usage, supporting effective cost control and commercial performance.
  • Support the Retail Manager with menus, promotions, new concepts and other retail initiatives.
  • Maintain excellent customer service, responding professionally to customer feedback and resolving day-to-day issues where appropriate.
  • Ensure high standards of cleanliness, food presentation and restaurant appearance are maintained throughout the day.
  • Follow all health & safety and food safety procedures, ensuring the team adheres to company standards and policies.
  • Complete all required cleaning schedules, checks and records, and maintain accurate and up-to-date allergen matrixes.
  • Ensure appropriate allergen management and cross-contamination controls are followed at all times.
  • Ensure COSHH and HACCP procedures are followed consistently, including the correct use and storage of cleaning chemicals and adherence to food safety controls.
  • Identify and report any food safety, health & safety or operational concerns to the Retail Manager.
  • Work closely with the wider management team to ensure consistency across the retail operation.
  • Take ownership of the restaurant section and proactively identify opportunities to improve service, efficiency, stock management and the customer experience.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor or similar hospitality/food service role.
  • Has experience working in a busy restaurant, café, contract catering or retail environment.
  • Is confident leading and supporting a team during busy service periods.
  • Has a strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards.
  • Is organised and comfortable with stock counting, ordering and inventory management.
  • Has good attention to detail and takes ownership of their responsibilities.
  • Is commercially aware and understands the importance of controlling waste and stock.
  • Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Is confident making decisions and resolving day-to-day operational issues.
  • Can remain calm and organised under pressure.
  • Is proactive and able to identify issues before they become problems.
  • Is willing to be hands-on and work alongside the team rather than simply manage from the sidelines.
  • Is passionate about food, hospitality and delivering a high-quality customer experience.
