Role: Team Leader

Reports to: Production Lead

Location: Darlington

Hours: 37.5 / 39 hours

Salary: £33,002.12 + shift allowance


We’re seeking a Team Leader to manage a team of people with the objective of making sure that output levels are achieved whilst maintaining high levels of quality and customer service.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver production in line with plans issued by the Planning team
  • Manage colleague attendance and ensure absence records are completed accurately
  • Support colleague performance through regular appraisals and development plans
  • Ensure colleagues are trained to achieve production, quality, and efficiency targets
  • Lead weekly team briefings and communicate key updates
  • Promote Health & Safety by following legislation, conducting audits, and supporting accident investigations
  • Support HR processes, mentor team members, and foster a positive, no-blame culture
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing Lean manufacturing practices and contributing to site business objectives.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning, organisation, and leadership abilities
  • Confident presenting ideas, motivating others, and promoting teamwork
  • Knowledge of production and management systems in medium to large batch manufacturing
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience in a Team Leader or similar supervisory role is desirable
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and behavioural safety practices
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and woodworking machinery
