About The Role

Based in Plymouth, this full-time, temporary Team Leader position offers £17.47 per hour for a 37-hour week, running Monday to Thursday from 06:00 to 14:30 and finishing early on Friday at 11:30. The contract spans up to twelve weeks. You will join a transport and operational support function, providing hands-on supervision from the initial morning allocation of vehicle keys through to the final driver debrief. Your focus will be directing drivers and crew, issuing daily instructions, and confirming everyone possesses the necessary route information. Monitoring attendance is also central to the role.

We're looking for an experienced Team Leader to join a busy transport and operational support team.

This is a hands-on supervisory role where you'll lead drivers and crew members, coordinate daily activities, and ensure services run smoothly from the start of each shift through to the end-of-day debrief.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of drivers and operational crew members
  • Issue vehicle keys and allocate work each morning from 6:00am
  • Communicate daily instructions and operational updates
  • Ensure drivers and crews have the information required to complete their routes
  • Carry out driver debriefs at the end of each shift
  • Monitor attendance and daily staffing requirements
  • Resolve operational issues as they arise
  • Complete a range of office and administrative duties
  • Maintain accurate records and support the wider management team

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor or similar role
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Confidence managing and motivating operational teams
  • Good IT and administrative skills
  • Experience within transport, logistics, waste services or a similar operational setting would be beneficial
