Are you passionate about using data, innovation and collaboration to improve vital public services?
Are you looking for an opportunity to lead projects that make a real difference to communities across Hampshire? If so, we'd love to hear from you.
We are seeking a highly motivated Team Leader to join our Asset Management Team, a key part of the Hampshire Highways Service responsible for managing and improving one of the largest local authority highway networks in the country.
The Role:
This is a unique opportunity to play a leading role in delivering the asset management functions that underpin an efficient, sustainable and data-driven highway service. Working at the heart of strategic decision-making, you'll help shape how highway assets are managed, maintained and improved to meet local priorities and future challenges.
Hampshire County Council is responsible for managing one of the largest local authority road networks in the country. It is the most valuable physical asset that we are responsible for and is fundamental to the economic, social, and environmental wellbeing of the community.
This role is an exciting opportunity to help deliver asset management functions that are essential to the delivery of an efficient and sustainable highway service that supports our local needs and priorities.
What you’ll do:
As a Team Leader you’ll be responsible for developing and managing a wide range of projects and play an important role in identifying and implementing service improvements. You will be involved in developing innovative ways to collect, analyse and use data strategically that will help to inform business decisions, drive efficiencies, and improve the delivery of the highway service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
