The role will require office-based working for a minimum of three days per week.

This post is designated as a Casual Car User and there will be a requirement to travel between sites.

Do you have experience of leading teams and delivering high-quality business support services? Are you passionate about developing people, improving processes and making a difference to children and families?

This is a 18-month fixed term contract. Hours of work are 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am - 4:30pm on Fridays.

We are seeking a dynamic and organised Business Support Team Leader to manage and coordinate business support services within Children and Families Services.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will:

  • Lead and develop a team of business support professionals.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of administrative and operational support to frontline services.
  • Manage financial processes and support budget monitoring activities.
  • Promote service improvements and digital ways of working.
  • Support the management of buildings, facilities, health and safety and local operational processes.
  • Build strong working relationships with managers, practitioners and partner organisations.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced team leader to make a meaningful contribution within a service that supports some of the most vulnerable children and families across Staffordshire.

Main Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Lead, motivate and support a team of Business Support professionals across district locations.
  • Ensure high-quality business support services are delivered efficiently and effectively to frontline Children and Families teams.
  • Manage staff performance, attendance, wellbeing and development, creating a positive and supportive working environment.
  • Coordinate workloads and resources to meet changing service demands and priorities.
  • Contribute to recruitment, induction and training activities.
  • Manage and monitor financial processes in line with County Council regulations and procedures.
  • Support the management of office accommodation, facilities, equipment, health and safety and business continuity arrangements.
  • Work collaboratively with managers and stakeholders to identify opportunities for service improvement.
  • Promote innovation and digital ways of working to improve efficiency and customer experience.
  • Analyse information and provide advice, guidance and solutions to support operational decision-making.
  • Act as a visible leader, championing organisational values and continuous improvement across the service.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Qualifications

  • Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 applications.

You'll be:

  • An experienced team leader with a proven ability to motivate, support and develop others.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • A confident communicator who can build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Skilled at identifying practical solutions and improving processes.
  • Comfortable interpreting information, analysing data and making informed decisions.
  • Adaptable and resilient, responding positively to change and new challenges.
  • Committed to delivering excellent customer service and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Passionate about developing people and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Minimum Criteria

  • Experience of managing teams within an administrative, business support or operational environment.
  • Experience of performance management, workload planning and service delivery.
  • Knowledge of financial procedures, budget monitoring or business administration processes.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 applications.
  • An understanding of health and safety responsibilities within a workplace environment.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and customers.
