We are a dynamic local authority providing essential services to the people of Gloucester.

Our main office, based in the Eastgate Centre on Eastgate Street in the heart of the city, is an accessible, modern and light space designed for collaborative working and finding new ways to work.

It's all open plan, with a living green wall and other plants without set desks, so you can sit next to someone new every day. We're always looking to improve how we work and we offer flexible and agile working to give our people a great work life balance.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Team Leader to join our Housing Services Team, focusing on Part 7 of the Housing Act to lead frontline delivery of statutory homelessness services within a fast-paced and challenging operational environment that is passionate about delivering person centred, trauma informed support.

You will have operational responsibility for leading officers undertaking homelessness assessments, prevention and relief work, and complex statutory decision making under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996.

This is a pivotal role, requiring confident leadership, sound legal understanding, and the ability to balance competing demands while maintaining service quality, governance and staff wellbeing.

About You

You will be an experienced housing professional with strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and statutory processes.

You need to have proven experience of managing staff in a frontline statutory service, be able to lead and inspire the Housing Service and coach and support team members to grow in confidence, resilience, and skill.

You will have confidence handling complex, high-risk casework and performance issues, the ability to lead calmly and decisively under pressure as well as have excellent communication, judgement and organisational skills.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
