The Role

The Renters' Rights Advice Service is a new and developing service within Manchester's Homelessness Service, providing early intervention and practical support across the private rented sector. Working with both tenants and landlords, the service focuses on resolving issues early, preventing escalation and supporting more stable tenancies across the city.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team at the forefront of service development as the Renters' Rights Act becomes embedded in practice. You will play a key role in shaping how the service responds to demand, ensuring residents, landlords and partner organisations receive clear, consistent and high-quality advice and support.

This is a rare opportunity to shape and lead a brand-new service at a time of significant legislative change, helping Manchester develop an innovative and preventative approach to supporting both tenants and landlords.

Key Responsibilities

Explain how this role is key to making impact in your service:

  • If you are successful, you will lead a team delivering early intervention and advice across both tenant and landlord functions, helping to address issues before they escalate into homelessness, enforcement action or wider housing instability.

  • You will play a key role in shaping and developing a new and evolving service, ensuring residents, landlords and partners receive clear, consistent and high-quality advice. You will be responsible for supporting and developing staff, maintaining clear service boundaries, overseeing risk and safeguarding concerns, and ensuring demand is managed effectively as the service grows.

  • By leading delivery across both functions, you will help reduce pressure on statutory services, improve understanding of rights and responsibilities within the private rented sector, and support Manchester's commitment to preventing homelessness through earlier intervention

Essential Requirements

  • Experience of leading and developing staff to achieve high performance.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and negotiate positive outcomes.
  • Experience of assessing risk and supporting effective decision-making.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of homelessness prevention, the private rented sector and relevant housing legislation, including the Renters' Rights Act and landlord and tenant law.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
