JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Hybrid – office, community & project based
SALARY: £14 per hour
Contract: 25 hours per week (based on operational needs)
Reporting to: Registered Manager
Responsible for: Support Workers, Senior Support Workers, Bank Staff
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, safety, and quality of care within a supported accommodation setting for adults with care and support needs.
The role ensures that care is safe, effective, person-centred, and responsive, while promoting independence, choice, dignity, and positive outcomes. The Team Leader is a visible leader who sets standards, supports staff, manages risk, and ensures regulatory and contractual compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Culture
- Provide strong, consistent leadership within the house, modelling organisational values and best practice
- Create a positive, inclusive, and psychologically safe culture for both people supported and staff
- Ensure staff understand their roles, responsibilities, and accountability
- Lead by example and maintain a visible presence within the service
Quality of Care & Support Delivery
- Ensure individuals receive person-centred support that promotes choice, independence, and wellbeing
- Oversee the implementation of support plans, PBS plans, risk assessments, and Active Support approaches
- Ensure care is delivered in line with assessed needs, agreed outcomes, and individual preferences
- Monitor quality through observations, audits, and feedback from individuals and families

Safeguarding, Risk & Safety
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are understood and followed by all staff
- Identify, manage, and escalate risks appropriately, including behavioural, environmental, and health risks
- Ensure incidents, accidents, and concerns are recorded, reported, and reviewed in line with policy
- Promote a proactive approach to risk management that balances safety with positive risk-taking
Staff Management & Development
- Induct, supervise, and develop staff in line with organisational standards
- Ensure staff receive appropriate training, supervision, and support to carry out their roles safely and competently
- Manage rotas to ensure safe staffing levels and continuity of care
- Address performance issues promptly and fairly, in line with HR processes
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with Adult Safeguarding responsibilities, CQC regulations, Care Act duties, and contractual requirements
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records, including care documentation, incident logs, and staff files
- Support internal audits, quality assurance visits, and inspections
- Implement action plans arising from audits, incidents, or feedback
Partnership & Communication
- Act as a key point of contact for families, advocates, and external professionals
- Work collaboratively with social workers, commissioners, and health professionals
- Contribute to reviews, meetings, and best-interest processes where required
- Ensure communication is clear, respectful, and transparent

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Experience working in adult supported living or supported accommodation
- Experience supervising or mentoring new staff into a service
- Strong understanding of person-centred care and safeguarding
- Ability to manage risk, incidents, and day-to-day operational challenges
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Values-led approach aligned with dignity, respect, and inclusion
Desirable
- Level 3 or above qualification in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, or complex behaviours
- Knowledge of CQC regulations, Mental Capacity Act, and Care Act principles
- Experience with PBS, Active Support, or trauma-informed practice
