Job Role

We're looking for an inspirational Team Leader to lead and develop a team of Youth Employment Advisors, helping young people aged 18-24 overcome barriers and secure sustainable employment opportunities.

In this role, you'll support the Business Manager to deliver outstanding performance, quality and compliance across the Youth Job Guarantee programme. You'll coach and motivate your team, oversee participant journeys, drive performance against targets, and ensure excellent standards of safeguarding, participant experience and service delivery.

We're seeking a confident leader with experience managing performance in a target-driven environment, strong coaching skills, and the ability to use data and insight to improve outcomes. Experience within employability, welfare-to-work, youth services or careers guidance would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire and coach a team of Youth Employment Advisors to achieve performance targets and deliver an exceptional participant experience.
  • Oversee caseloads and participant journeys, using performance data to identify risks, barriers and opportunities for intervention.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, personalised support including assessments, action plans, employability coaching and skills development.
  • Support young people to build confidence, independence and workplace readiness, helping them progress towards sustainable employment.
  • Work closely with employers, partners and internal teams to secure employment opportunities and achieve successful job matches.
  • Drive sustained employment outcomes through effective in-work support and early intervention where challenges arise.
  • Maintain high standards of compliance, ensuring participant records, evidence and management information are accurate and up to date.
  • Promote safeguarding and participant welfare, ensuring concerns are identified, managed and escalated appropriately.
  • Champion continuous improvement through coaching, feedback and development to enhance team performance and capability.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and support the Business Manager in delivering programme objectives and operational excellence.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Previous leadership or management experience, including coaching colleagues and managing performance.
  • Experience working in a target-driven environment and delivering services against quality and contractual standards.
  • Strong knowledge of the local labour market and employment opportunities within the region.
  • Confident user of Microsoft 365 and digital systems, including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and CRM/case management systems.
  • Experience managing caseload-based delivery and using performance data to improve outcomes.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and the ability to identify, manage and escalate risk appropriately.
  • Strong coaching and people development skills with the ability to motivate and support colleagues.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and maintain high standards of service delivery.
  • Flexibility to travel across the geographical area as required by the role.

Desirable

  • Ability to coach and develop colleagues supporting young people and individuals facing barriers to employment.
  • Experience or knowledge of employability, careers guidance, welfare-to-work, youth services, or related programmes.
  • Experience supporting young people aged 18-24 to achieve positive employment outcomes.
  • Level 3 Award in Employability Services Sector or an equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of recruitment practices and employer engagement activities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel across the geographical area to meet business needs.
