Duration: Permanent, Working on a 24x7 shift pattern which covers a 6-week period, 12 hour shifts averaging 35 hours per week, This includes nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Location: Doncaster Carolina Court, Doncaster

Band & Salary: Band 4B, £35,582 - £43,400

From the day-to-day IT operations that keeps a national railway running, to the extensive delivery programmes that our helping to reshape the railway - we are at the forefront of all of it. Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and inspire a virtual team of engineers, technicians, and support administrators, ensuring resources are effectively coordinated to meet operational demands and deliver a high-quality service.
  • Develop and maintain resource plans, staffing models, schedules, and rotas to maximise resource utilisation, balancing capacity with demand while ensuring service commitments and SLA/OLA targets are achieved.
  • Undertake regular competency assessments and data quality reviews in line with organisational policies and standards, identifying capability gaps and implementing development plans to ensure compliance, accurate reporting, and strong KPI performance.
  • Proactively manage operational risk by participating in resilience and contingency planning activities, helping to strengthen the organisation's response to incidents impacting people, systems, and facilities.
  • Review, develop, and embed operational processes and procedures, producing insightful management information and performance reports that drive continuous improvement and enhance customer service delivery.
  • Champion best practice and service excellence by monitoring team performance, analysing customer feedback, and working collaboratively with colleagues to identify and implement improvements that enhance the customer experience.
  • Work closely with project teams and stakeholders to support the successful introduction of new and changed services into Service Operations, ensuring a seamless transition into live service and ongoing operational support.

Essential

Your experience and skills

  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent in at least one science or mathematics based subject or hold an equivalent vocational qualification in a technical or engineering discipline
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and managing a team of operational telecoms engineers, technicians and administrators
  • Experience of compiling, reviewing, updating and implementing process documentation to maintain applicability
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to lead and deliver continual service improvement
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate to explain technical information to non-technical personnel
  • Ability to react to emergency situations safely and effectively while demonstrating strong emotional control
  • Able to work shift patterns and provide flexibility to support the operational needs of the business
  • Familiar with appropriate service support frameworks (e.g. ITIL) or troubleshooting methodology (e.g. Kepner Tregoe)

Desirable

  • Previous operational railway experience
  • Working knowledge of a service operations environment, including remote management platforms and operational support systems
  • Possess or agree to work towards attainment of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
