Lead the team. Keep young people moving towards work.
You will lead Employment Advisors delivering our Youth Mentor Programme, helping young people move from referral and employment preparation into suitable work and sustained employment.
This is a hands-on, mobile operational leadership role. Your team will deliver across community locations throughout the programme's delivery areas of Berkshire and Oxfordshire, and you will need to travel regularly between them to lead and support delivery. A valid driving licence, access to an appropriate vehicle and appropriate business-use insurance are therefore essential requirements of the role.
You will manage performance, caseloads and participant progress, coach Advisors and use live data to identify where intervention is needed. The pace matters: the pre-employment journey is short, so you will keep people moving while protecting quality, safeguarding and appropriate employment matching.
Before you apply: the essentials
To be considered, your CV and application must clearly demonstrate:
- Experience leading, supervising or coaching colleagues within an outcome-focused service, including setting expectations and addressing performance.
- Evidence of personally delivering against measurable targets, contractual outcomes or agreed objectives.
- Experience within employability, recruitment, youth services, careers, education, skills or another relevant service environment.
- Evidence of using performance or case data to identify risks, priorities and actions that improve outcomes.
- A valid driving licence, access to an appropriate vehicle and appropriate business-use insurance, enabling you to travel regularly across the programme's delivery areas.
- Evidence of commitment, reliability and consistently delivering high standards of work.
- Ability to present your recent employment history clearly, including explaining gaps or short-term roles during the previous five years.
- Confident working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn and adapt to CRM, case-management and other digital systems.
Useful, but not essential
- A leadership, management, coaching or Information, Advice and Guidance qualification.
- Experience supporting young people towards employment.
The real job
You will know what is happening across your team: which participants need intervention, where caseload pressure is building, which employment opportunities are needed and which placements may be at risk.
You will set clear expectations, review cases and performance, observe delivery and coach Employment Advisors. When performance falls below expectation, you will identify why and put focused improvement actions in place.
You will work closely with employer-facing colleagues to make sure available opportunities reflect participant needs. Employment starts should come from appropriate matching, not placement volume alone.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Once somebody starts work, the job is not finished. You will maintain oversight of in-work support and employment risks, helping your team address problems early and improve sustainment.
What Success Looks Like
Your team understands its targets and what meaningful progress looks like. Caseloads are controlled, participants move purposefully towards work and employment opportunities align with participant demand.
You use performance information alongside case reviews, observations and participant experience to understand what is driving results. Records remain accurate and audit-ready, safeguarding concerns are handled appropriately, and quality and compliance are part of everyday delivery.
The working reality
This is a mobile role and regular driving across the programme's delivery areas is a fundamental part of the job. Your Employment Advisors will be delivering in different community locations, and you need to be present where your teams are working - providing visible leadership, observing delivery, coaching colleagues and maintaining operational oversight.
This is not a role that can be managed solely from one location or from a desk. You must be comfortable travelling regularly as part of your working week and have a valid driving licence and access to an appropriate vehicle with appropriate business-use insurance.
We will consider reasonable adjustments that enable you to meet the role's travel requirements. Regular travel across the delivery area remains essential.
You will also balance coaching and support with accountability for engagement, employment starts, sustainment, case quality and contractual performance. At times you will need to challenge activity that is not producing meaningful progress, address underperformance and make decisions when participant journeys or employment outcomes are at risk.
