About Outward
For 50 years, Outward has been providing high-quality support and care services to vulnerable people across London, predominantly in North East London. Established by families seeking alternatives to institutional care, we've grown into a respected provider of person-centred support for adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and complex needs. We support over 1,000 people across nine boroughs, guided by our core values: engage, enable, and empower.
Outward is proud to be an accredited Living Wage Employer. This means we are committed to paying the Real Living Wage - not just the government minimum or national living wage - to our frontline Support Workers and other eligible staff. We recognise the value of the work our teams do, and we are committed to ensuring fair pay that reflects the true cost of living. The Real Living Wage is updated annually by the Living Wage Foundation, and Outward remains committed to aligning our pay accordingly.
About the role
Are you an experienced housing or care leader who is passionate about helping older people live safely, independently and with dignity? We are looking for a confident and compassionate Team Manager to lead our Elder Extra Care sheltered schemes across Hackney and Camden.
This is a rewarding opportunity to lead a dedicated team delivering high-quality housing-related support and housing management services. You will play a key role in creating welcoming, well-run schemes where residents feel respected, listened to and supported to maintain their tenancies, access the right help and enjoy a good quality of life.
What you'll be doing
- Lead, motivate and support staff across our Elder Extra Care sheltered schemes, ensuring they have the guidance, supervision and development they need to deliver excellent services.
- Champion person-centred support that promotes independence, choice, safety, wellbeing and dignity for older residents.
- Oversee support planning, tenancy sustainment, risk management, safeguarding, resident involvement and partnership working.
- Manage day-to-day housing and property management processes, including voids, lettings, rent and service charge arrears, repairs, health and safety checks, cleanliness and building security.
- Build strong working relationships with residents, colleagues, commissioners, local authorities, families and partner agencies.
- Monitor budgets, service charge expenditure, performance information, complaints, records, audits and inspections.
- Ensure the service is delivered in line with Outward's policies, procedures, contractual requirements and values.
- Provide frontline management cover when needed, including some evenings, weekends, bank holidays and participation in on-call arrangements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
