Children’s Social Worker - Fostering Team Manager

Liquid Personnel is recruiting a Children’s Social Worker to join its client’s Fostering Team, based in Gateshead.

We are a dedicated and supportive service committed to providing safe, stable, and nurturing homes for children and young people. Our team works closely with foster carers, partner agencies, and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for children in care.

As a Team Manager within the Fostering Team, you will provide effective leadership, supervision, and management to a team of social workers and fostering practitioners. You will play a key role in driving high standards of practice, supporting foster carers, and ensuring statutory responsibilities are met in line with legislation and best practice guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and support a team of social workers and fostering professionals to deliver high-quality services.
  • Provide regular supervision, performance management, and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Oversee the recruitment, assessment, approval, and ongoing support of foster carers.
  • Ensure compliance with fostering regulations, national minimum standards, and Gateshead Council policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and review care plans to ensure children and young people achieve positive outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, foster carers, partner agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage team performance, workloads, and resources effectively to meet service demands.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, reflective practice, and child-centred decision-making.
  • Contribute to service development and implement strategic objectives across the fostering service.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
