Warwickshire County Council,

Help us find the right home for every child.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Team Manager to join Warwickshire’s Home Finding Hub. This countywide service is the central point for identifying foster homes, residential homes and supported accommodation for children who cannot live with their birth parents, relatives or friends.

You will lead with calmness, focus and sound judgement in a fast-paced environment, guiding colleagues to identify homes that meet each child’s individual needs. Proactive planning and effective prioritisation will be central to your work, alongside a commitment to hearing children’s voices and achieving safe, stable and lasting outcomes.

About the role:

  • Oversee Home Finding Hub duty on a rota with the other established Team Manager.
  • Quality assure placement referrals, ensuring they are balanced, strengths-based and of a high standard.
  • Provide clear oversight of same-day and complex home searches, including presenting outstanding searches at weekly meetings with senior leaders.
  • Line manage and supervise two full-time Home Finding Hub Social Workers, three Family Support Workers and one Youth Worker within the Wraparound Support Service.
  • Oversee focused interventions designed to stabilise children’s homes and reduce avoidable moves.
  • Build strong working relationships with social workers, fostering colleagues, internal and external foster carers, residential and supported accommodation providers, and other partners.
  • Work closely with the other Home Finding Hub Team Manager and the Service Manager to provide consistent leadership across the service.
  • Maintain effective systems and processes while encouraging creativity, reflection and continuous improvement.

About you:

We are looking for an experienced social work manager who can combine strong operational oversight with compassionate, child-centred leadership. You will be confident making timely decisions, supporting colleagues under pressure and maintaining high standards across a busy countywide service.

  • A recognised social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
  • Substantial post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, including management or supervisory responsibility.
  • Experience of working with children in care, placement finding, fostering, residential care or a closely related service.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and the ability to analyse complex information, manage risk and make well-reasoned decisions.
  • Effective people-management skills, with a commitment to reflective supervision, staff development and wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills, including the confidence to challenge constructively and influence decisions.
  • A calm organised and flexible approach, with the ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • A clear commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, children’s rights and ensuring that each child’s wishes, feelings, identity and desired outcomes shape decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
