Mainstream Fostering Manager (12 month Secondment opportunity)
Children's Services - Fostering Service
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced leader to undertake the role of Mainstream Fostering Manager on an interim basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership across Derbyshire's mainstream fostering service at a time of transformation and improvement. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting foster carers, strengthening placement sufficiency, driving service improvement and ensuring children experience high-quality, stable fostering arrangements.
The role will provide operational and strategic leadership across mainstream fostering and will require a strong commitment to relationship-based practice, partnership working and continuous service development.

- Leadership and management of fostering services.
- Supporting, developing and retaining foster carers.
- Driving service improvement and managing change.
- Safeguarding children and promoting positive outcomes.
- Performance management, quality assurance and oversight of practice.
- Placement sufficiency, stability and permanence planning.
- Partnership working across Children's Services and external agencies.
- Workforce development, supervision and staff support.
- Using data, intelligence and feedback to inform decision making.
- Promoting the voice of foster carers and ensuring co-production informs service delivery.
Expression of Interest Application
Interested applicants are invited to submit a 1-2 page application outlining:
- Leadership Experience Your experience of leading teams and delivering high-quality services within Children's Services, fostering or a related field.
- Service Improvement Examples of how you have successfully led improvement activity, implemented change or improved outcomes for children, carers or services.
- Foster Carer Support and Retention Your understanding of the factors that contribute to successful foster carer support, retention and recruitment, and how you would strengthen Derbyshire's mainstream fostering offer.
- Performance and Quality Assurance How you use performance information, audit findings, feedback and service intelligence to improve practice and achieve better outcomes.
- Partnership and Collaborative Working Evidence of effective partnership working with internal and external stakeholders and how you would build relationships across the fostering service and wider Children's Services.
