Location: Cambridge/Middlesbrough/Port Talbot
Contract: Permanent
Office/Hybrid: 3 days in Office
Hours: Full time

Salary/annum: Min £45,100 - Max £62,000

Description of role:

The Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Group is seeking to appoint a Team Manager within the “NDT Inspection Services” section to lead our Site Inspection Services. This role is critical in ensuring that all inspection activities delivered on customer sites meet the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.

As Team Manager, you will take full responsibility for managing the inspection team, providing clear direction and support to maintain operational excellence. You will oversee the day-to-day coordination of inspection schedules, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet project timelines and client expectations. Building strong relationships with internal and external clients will be key to maintaining seamless communication and service delivery. In addition, you will champion continuous improvement initiatives, driving efficiency and enhancing reporting processes.

The position requires a leader with proven experience in inspection services and a strong understanding of regulatory compliance and quality assurance. Exceptional organisational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to motivate and guide a team under tight deadlines and changing priorities.

You will also proactively develop a pipeline of new business opportunities, engaging your team with potential customers, collaborating with colleagues across business units and working closely with the business development function. Projects must be maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality and technical excellence while meeting time, cost and delivery targets.

The NIS section delivers a broad range of projects to an international customer base, often with competing demands and the requirement to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced, continually changing environment. As Team Manager, you will be responsible for the allocation of technical resource to best fit project needs, assisting in project delivery and supporting day-to-day customer enquiries.   • Demonstrate experience of managing multidisciplinary teams and projects;
  • Commit to providing technical excellence with effective communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Possess strong knowledge of NDT and on-site application.
  • Show a track record in effective Project Management, including scoping of work and producing high-quality technical reports;
  • Capability to assist staff training and development activities within your team including motivation, succession planning and personal growth opportunities.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three CSWIP/PCN Level 2 and one Level 3 in at least one major NDT method (UT/PAUT/ET would be advantageous), an appropriate qualification at degree level or significant demonstrable experience in the on-site application of NDT in industry, extensive knowledge in NDT and will have gained or be working towards chartered engineer status. Demonstrable experience of a leading role in NDT.

Travel:

This position involves short-term travel within the UK and overseas, depending on project demands and client interactions. Regular travel is expected to maintain effective communication with the team.

Working hours:
