This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and inspiring leader to join our Children We Care For Service as a Team Manager with a strategic focus on permanence.
Permanence is at the heart of everything we do. It is about much more than finding the right home. It is about helping children experience stability, belonging, strong relationships and the security they need to thrive throughout their lives.
We are looking for a passionate and motivated leader who shares our ambition for children and young people and can champion high-quality permanence planning across the organisation. This is a unique role that combines direct team leadership with the opportunity to influence practice, decision-making and outcomes across the wider service.
Working from a strengths-based, relationship-centred and trauma-informed approach, you will support practitioners to keep children's lived experiences, voices and long-term needs at the centre of all planning. You will challenge drift and delay, promote creative and ambitious permanence planning, and help ensure that permanence is considered from the earliest stages of a child's journey.
Alongside your strategic responsibilities, you will lead a small team of social workers, providing reflective supervision, professional support and clear management oversight. Maintaining a smaller team creates the capacity to focus on service-wide development, build strong partnerships and drive improvements in permanence practice across Children's Services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
