Role Description
The Team Manager role at Tesco in Wokingham is a full-time, on-site position responsible for leading and supporting a store team to deliver excellent customer service and operational standards.
Day-to-day tasks include:
- Planning and allocating work
- Coaching colleagues
- Ensuring that shelves are well-stocked
- Ensuring displays are merchandised
- Ensuring the store is clean and safe

- Handling routine administrative tasks
- Supporting stock control and waste reduction
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations
This position requires working collaboratively with other managers and teams to achieve sales, service, and efficiency targets.
Qualifications
- Leadership and team management skills, including coaching, performance management, and the ability to motivate and support diverse teams.
- Customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with customers and colleagues and resolve issues effectively.
- Organizational and time management skills, including experience prioritizing tasks, managing rotas or schedules, and meeting deadlines.
- Retail or operations experience, such as working in a store environment, managing stock, and maintaining merchandising and store standards.
- Basic numeracy and IT skills, including the ability to use retail systems, handle routine data entry, and interpret simple reports.
- Understanding of health, safety, and compliance practices in a retail setting, or willingness to learn and apply these standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, in line with store needs.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or junior management role is beneficial; formal qualifications in business, retail, or management are an advantage but not essential.
