Team Manager Children’s Family Help Team

Location: Weymouth, Dorset
Pay Rate: £47.50 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: 37 hours per week hybrid working
Contract Type: Interim 3 months

Lead, Support and Inspire Social Work Practice

Dorset Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager to lead a team of Social Workers and practitioners delivering high-quality statutory services to children, young people, and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a Children's Social Care team
  • Provide expert safeguarding advice and oversight
  • Deliver high-quality supervision, support, and performance management
  • Ensure effective case management and positive outcomes for children
  • Chair key meetings including PLO, strategy, and permanency planning meetings
  • Work closely with partner agencies, legal services, and senior leaders
  • Monitor performance, quality assurance, and compliance
  • Support recruitment, staff development, and workforce planning
  • Deputise for the Operational Manager when required

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Significant post-qualified experience in Children's Social Care
  • Previous team management or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, CIN, CIC, and court proceedings
  • Ability to lead high-performing teams and drive service improvement
