Company Description
Blackwater Valley Scout District is part of the UK Scouting movement, supporting young people to develop skills for life through outdoor activities, community engagement, and personal development. The district brings together local Scout groups in the Farnborough, Aldershot, and Ash Vale Area providing guidance, resources, and leadership for volunteers and young members. Volunteers work collaboratively to deliver safe, inclusive, and engaging programs for children and young people of diverse backgrounds. The district emphasizes teamwork, learning, and fun, while helping each individual grow in confidence, responsibility, and resilience.
Role Description
The Team Members Volunteer role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Reading Area. Team Members Volunteers support the planning and delivery of weekly Scout meetings, activities, and events, ensuring sessions are safe, inclusive, and engaging for young people.

Responsibilities

- Setting up and packing away equipment
- Helping run games and educational activities
- Assisting with camps and trips
- Supporting administrative tasks such as record-keeping and communication with parents or caregivers
- Collaborating closely with other leaders and team members to develop age-appropriate programs that promote personal development, teamwork, and community involvement
- Attending relevant training
- Following safeguarding and health and safety guidelines
- Positively representing Blackwater Valley Scout District in the local community
Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively with children and young people and support their learning, development, and wellbeing.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with volunteers, parents or caregivers, and community partners.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including clear verbal communication and respectful listening.
- Organizational and time-management abilities to help plan activities, prepare materials, and support events and trips.
- Commitment to safeguarding, health and safety, and creating an inclusive environment for people from diverse backgrounds.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training, including first aid, safeguarding, and Scout-specific courses.
- Reliability, integrity, and a genuine interest in youth development, outdoor activities, and community engagement.
- Previous volunteering, mentoring, or youth work experience is beneficial but not required; all necessary training can be provided.
