Responsibilities
As a Team Supervisor based in Barnsley, you’ll be responsible for:
- Assisting the Branch Manager with the day to day running and operations within the branch and take charge when they are not available
- Supervise and support colleagues, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to achieve targets and goals
- Serving customers on the trade counter, offering advice and product knowledge
- Develop the customer base, improve retention, satisfaction, product mix and range
- Identify and recommend ways to improve profits
- Building rapport with suppliers
- General warehouse duties including, goods in & out, picking and packing customer orders (this will involve manual handling heavy stock i.e., toilets, sinks, boilers and radiators)
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Job Details
This is a full-time, permanent role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday between 07.00am - 5.00pm and Saturday on a rota basis 08.00am - 12.00pm.

Requirements
And here’s what we’d like you to have to be a successful Team Supervisor:
- Previous experience within a plumbers' merchant, builders' merchant, or similar trade environment is preferable
- Experience supervising or leading a team with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members
- Positive and professional attitude with a Customer-focused approach
- Experience handling stock control and inventory management
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to step up to run the branch in the Branch Manager's absence and happy to carry out a diverse range of duties in the branch to ensure it runs smoothly
- Commercial awareness with a focus on sales growth
- Keenness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic
