Tech Lead - Azure Databricks Data Platform | 6-Month Contract (Inside IR35)
Location: London
Contract: Initial 6-Month Contract £800 per day
Strong Potential for Extension - Project Roadmap of up to 3 Years Inside IR35
We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead with deep expertise in the Azure Data Platform and Databricks ecosystem to join a major transformation programme within the financial trading sector. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of a large-scale enterprise data platform with long-term project visibility and extension potential.
The Role
As the Azure Databricks Tech Lead, you will be responsible for defining technical strategy, leading engineering teams, and delivering scalable, high-performance data solutions across a complex cloud-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-scale data solutions using Azure and Databricks
- Drive data platform strategy, governance, data quality frameworks, and engineering best practices
- Optimise platform performance and cloud spend, with a strong focus on Databricks Structured Streaming workloads
- Provide end-to-end technical leadership from architecture and design through to delivery and production support
- Work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
- Mentor engineering teams, influence technical direction, and drive best-in-class delivery standards
- Take ownership of complex technical challenges and ensure successful business outcomes

Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive Azure Data Platform experience
- Strong Databricks expertise, including:
- Structured Streaming
- Delta Live Tables (DLT)
- PySpark Architecture
- Advanced Python and SQL skills
- Proven experience delivering large-scale enterprise data platforms
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and platform optimisation
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Previous experience leading technical teams and driving architectural decisions

- Financial Trading domain experience
- Understanding of trading data models, market data, and associated business processes
