Your Mission
We are seeking a Tech Lead, Backend to lead the technical execution, micro-architecture, and engineering excellence of backend platform services that power the core of the 1inch DeFi platform.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an experienced backend engineer who combines:
- Strong technical expertise
- The ability to guide a team in delivering high-quality software
Your responsibilities will include:
- Owning the technical direction of your team’s services, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and performance
- Mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards
You will work on:
- Distributed backend systems
- Blockchain integrations
- Blockchain indexing services
- Mission-critical platform capabilities operating under demanding performance and correctness requirements
Key Responsibilities
Technical Direction & Execution
- Own the technical design and micro-architecture of backend services within your domain
- Lead technical planning, implementation decisions, and architecture reviews
- Establish engineering standards, coding practices, and backend architecture patterns

Quality & Architecture
- Balance feature delivery with long-term maintainability, reliability, and technical debt reduction
- Act as the primary technical quality gate for production changes
- Spend 50-80% of your time writing production code in Go and TypeScript
System Development & Operations
- Design, build, and operate scalable, resilient, and high-performance backend services across their full lifecycle
- Build backend systems that integrate with:
- Smart contracts
- Blockchain infrastructure
- Web3 services
- Design and operate blockchain indexing and data processing systems supporting:
- Routing
- Pricing
- Execution
- Portfolio and analytics capabilities
AI & Leadership
- Lead AI-first engineering practices
- Mentor engineers in integrating AI across:
- Architecture
- Implementation
- Testing
- Debugging
- Documentation
- Code review
- Partner with Product, Blockchain, Infrastructure, Security, and DevOps teams
Requirements
Core Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional backend software engineering experience, including technical leadership responsibilities
- Expert-level experience building backend systems in Go
- Strong professional experience with TypeScript
- Deep expertise in designing and operating:
- Distributed systems
- Event-driven architectures
- Cloud-native platforms
- Proven experience building secure, scalable, and highly available production systems
- Strong understanding of:
- Blockchain infrastructure
- Smart contracts
- Blockchain indexing and Web3 backend development
- Extensive practical experience using Cursor AI or comparable AI-native engineering environments
- Proven experience applying AI-assisted engineering across:
- Architecture
- Implementation
- Testing
- Debugging
- Documentation
- Code review
- Experience designing or scaling agentic software delivery workflows
- Ability to help engineering teams adopt AI effectively without compromising:
- Engineering quality
- Security
- Maintainability
- Exceptional system design, communication, and technical leadership skills
