Principal Java Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced Principal Java Engineer to take ownership of the technical direction of a highly scalable SaaS platform used by thousands of users. This is a senior technical leadership role where you'll work alongside Product, DevOps, Data, and QA teams to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing software while acting as a trusted mentor to engineering teams.
Rather than focusing on line management, you'll influence through technical excellence, architecture, and best practice, helping shape the future of an evolving technology platform.

You'll ideally bring experience with:
- Extensive commercial Java development in enterprise environments.
- Designing scalable, secure, and high-performing software architectures.
- Modern Spring technologies and distributed systems.
- Cloud-native application development and containerized environments.
- CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
- Application security and secure software development principles.
- Technical mentoring, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical software.
