Technical Project Manager - New Product Development
Central London | Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office
£400-425 per day
Outside IR35
I'm working with a global consumer technology business that is looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to join its New Product Development team, working closely with the Home Environment Engineering function.
This is a really interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys sitting at the heart of a complex product development team and making sure everyone is aligned, decisions are made and products get successfully from concept through to launch.
You'll essentially be the glue between engineering, design and the wider business, with joint responsibility for bringing new products to market.
You'll own the WHAT - what is being delivered, when and why - while the engineering and design teams focus on the HOW.
What you'll be doing
- Managing new product development projects through the full lifecycle, from initial concept through to launch.
- Keeping global teams aligned around project direction, key decisions and deliverables.
- Owning and maintaining project schedules, ensuring milestones are on track and retailer requirements are met.
- Monitoring project status, risks, issues and dependencies and making sure these are communicated clearly to the relevant stakeholders.
- Working closely with engineering and design teams to understand complex technical challenges and translate these into clear information for non-technical stakeholders.
- Supporting the wider project team with technical activities where required.
- Regularly presenting project updates, risks and key decisions to senior stakeholders and executive-level audiences.
- Managing project budgets and keeping an eye on financial performance.
- Working collaboratively across global, cross-functional teams to ensure the right product is delivered at the right time.
- Helping to drive best-in-class products from development through to market.
- Using project management tools and systems to maintain clear visibility of progress, issues and actions.

What we're looking for
We're looking for someone with a strong Technical Project Management / Engineering Project Management background who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced product development environment.
You'll ideally bring:
- 5+ years' experience in project management or an engineering/project environment.
- Strong experience managing projects through the entire product lifecycle.
- An engineering background, with the ability to understand and communicate technical information.
- Experience working with consumer products, household appliances, plastics or physical products would be highly desirable.
- Experience working for a leading Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) brand would be a real advantage, particularly where you've worked on the development and launch of physical consumer products.
- A hands-on, proactive approach - someone who gets involved and gets things moving.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience presenting regularly to senior stakeholders, directors or executive teams.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience using Jira for issue tracking and project management.
- A good technical understanding of manufacturing processes, capabilities and limitations.
- Experience managing project budgets would be advantageous.
- Experience with SolidWorks or Creo would be a bonus.

Working pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office
