Technical 3D Designer
Alterd | East London | Full-time
Alterd is a fast-growing creative design and production studio specializing in retail spaces, commercial interiors, pop-ups, brand activations, fixtures, and bespoke fabrication.
We’re looking for a Technical Designer to join our East London team. It's essential the candidate has a strong understanding of joinery and metal fabrication (retail and hospitality design experience desired).
You’ll sit between our creative, project, and production teams, taking concepts (internally and externally) and developing them into clear, considered, and workable proposals.
What you’ll be doing
- Producing detailed technical and manufacturing drawings
- Creating accurate 3D models (SolidWorks or Fusion)
- Preparing drawing packs for manufacture for installation costing
- Developing joinery, metalwork, signage, and specialist fabrication details
- Specifying materials, finishes, fixings (working with the project team to develop samples and prototypes)
- Carrying out site surveys
- Working directly with our workshop, suppliers, and specialist fabricators
- Reviewing prototypes, samples, and production methods
- Supporting projects through production and installation (being on site during installation)

You’ll ideally have experience within retail design, interiors, joinery, furniture, exhibitions, events, or a similar premium design-and-build environment.
You should be confident producing accurate technical drawings and comfortable discussing construction methods directly with manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors.
Experience with SolidWorks, Fusion, and AutoCAD is essential.
Most importantly, you’ll have a good eye for design, strong attention to detail, and a practical approach to problem-solving.
