Technical Account Manager
Location: Hertfordshire (hybrid, 3 days a week in the office)
Salary: £50,000 basic + uncapped commission
Employment type: Full time, permanent
About Our Client
Our client is a well-established and highly regarded managed IT services provider in Hertfordshire. They partner with small and medium-sized businesses, many in compliance-focused sectors delivering managed and co-managed IT support, cyber security, Microsoft 365 and Azure, connectivity and business continuity. They're known for being honest, reliable and genuinely client-focused. Most of their clients are based locally in Hertfordshire, so this is a genuinely local role where you'll build close, face-to-face relationships with the businesses you look after.
The Role
Due to continued growth, our client is looking for a dynamic Technical Account Manager to join the team. This is a TAM-style role for someone who combines strong commercial instincts with real technical understanding, and who can hold a credible technical conversation with business owners, finance directors and IT leads alike. You'll own a portfolio of existing clients, act as their trusted technology adviser and proactively identify opportunities for project work, upgrades and new services. You'll bring urgency and organisation to everything you do, keeping on top of deadlines, timelines and deliverables so that clients get a first-class experience and opportunities never slip through the cracks.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing managed services clients, primarily across Hertfordshire
- Act as a trusted technical adviser, running regular account reviews and strategic technology roadmap meetings
- Proactively identify and win project and professional services opportunities, including Microsoft 365 and Azure migrations, cyber security improvements, network upgrades, hardware refreshes and infrastructure projects
- Hold confident technical conversations with clients and translate business needs into the right solutions
- Work closely with technical, project and service delivery teams to scope, quote and deliver projects on time
- Drive renewals and contract extensions, protecting and growing recurring revenue
- Upsell and cross-sell additional managed services to grow MRR
- Manage timelines, deadlines and follow-ups with urgency and attention to detail
- Keep the CRM accurate and report on pipeline, forecasts and account health
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a Technical Account Manager, Account Manager or similar client-facing role within an MSP or IT services business
- A solid technical understanding of managed IT, Microsoft 365, Azure, cyber security, networking and infrastructure, enough to lead a credible technical conversation
- A commercial mindset with a track record of identifying and closing project and upsell opportunities
- A dynamic, proactive approach, with real urgency and strong organisational skills
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills with stakeholders at all levels
- Based in or within a reasonable commute of Hertfordshire, as the role involves 3 days a week in the office and regular client visits
- A full UK driving licence
