Technical Accounting and Assurance Lead
Salary: £70,000–£80,000
Location: London Bridge
As a Technical Accounting and Assurance Lead you will help shape strong financial governance and technical accounting assurance at Hyde.
Hyde is looking for an experienced Technical Accounting and Assurance Lead to join our Finance function. This is a high-impact specialist role for a technical accounting professional who can interpret complex requirements, strengthen financial controls and provide clear, practical guidance across a complex organisation.
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Director, you will be the recognised subject matter expert for technical accounting, financial reporting assurance, finance governance and regulatory change. Rather than producing routine accounts, you will provide expert interpretation, resolve complex queries, review controls and help Finance respond effectively to legislative, regulatory and accounting developments.
What you’ll do
- Own and maintain finance guidance, technical accounting policies and key control documentation.
- Set clear standards that support accurate financial reporting, effective governance and consistent finance operations.
- Provide expert advice on accounting standards, financial controls, legislation, regulation and internal policy.
- Resolve complex technical accounting and assurance queries, documenting clear and traceable recommendations.
- Assess the impact of regulatory and accounting changes and support proportionate, well-controlled implementation.
- Review processes, systems and controls to identify risks, gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Prepare guidance, briefings and decision-support materials for finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Support audit, regulatory review and internal assurance activity by ensuring evidence and guidance are robust.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
