Job Title: Technical Accounting Manager
Location: Strand, London
Daily Rate: £700 - £750 per day (umbrella)
Contract Length: 12 months with potential for extension
Working Pattern: Hybrid, ideally two days in the office per week
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Accounting Manager to bolster their Group External Reporting and Policy team. This exciting opportunity comes at a critical time as the organisation prepares for its busy half-year and year-end reporting periods. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess deep technical accounting expertise, this role may be the perfect fit!
Key Responsibilities:
- Expert Technical Guidance: Act as the go-to authority on IFRS and UK GAAP, providing expert advice on accounting and reporting issues faced by the organisation.
- Drafting and Review: Create and review technical accounting papers for external auditors, ensuring swift signoffs to establish clear accounting principles across local and Group teams.
- Policy Development: Lead initiatives to review and implement new accounting standards, updating Group accounting policies in line with the latest guidance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with various departments, including Legal, Treasury, and M&A, to provide strategic accounting advice for internal and external transactions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and implementation of accounting requirements.

What the Successful Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Expertise: ACA Qualified Accountant with substantial post-qualification experience, preferably within large, regulated utilities.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong IFRS technical expertise, including lease accounting, hedge accounting, and M&A accounting.
- Communication Skills: Highly proficient in written and verbal communication, with the ability to articulate complex accounting concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proactive Attitude: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills with a keen interest in fostering relationships and sharing knowledge across the organisation.
- Background in Utilities or Big 4: Highly desirable
