About the Opportunity

This opportunity is for experienced technical accounting and SEC reporting professionals to contribute their expertise to an advanced AI research and training project with Mercor. You will translate real-world technical accounting and external reporting experience into structured, high-quality training data designed to help AI systems reason through complex accounting judgments, ASC standards, financial reporting requirements, and SEC reporting matters.

The role focuses on professionals with deep, hands-on expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 leases, ASC 718 stock-based compensation, and ASC 805 business combinations, as well as external reporting and SEC filings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop realistic technical accounting scenarios based on professional accounting and SEC reporting experience.
  • Create scenarios involving technical accounting memos, accounting schedules, SEC filings, footnotes, and financial statement disclosures.
  • Develop scenarios requiring the application of new or complex ASC standards to real-world transactions.
  • Work with 10-K and 10-Q filings and related external reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate accounting treatments involving ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 leases, ASC 718 stock compensation, and ASC 805 business combinations.
  • Review and compare AI-generated technical accounting outputs for standards-accurate conclusions and defensible support.
  • Identify technical errors, unsupported accounting conclusions, incomplete analysis, and incorrect application of U.S. GAAP.
  • Assess whether AI-generated accounting conclusions are appropriately supported by relevant ASC guidance and professional judgment.
  • Provide clear and structured written feedback to improve AI reasoning and performance in technical accounting.
  • Apply professional judgment when evaluating complex accounting transactions and reporting conclusions.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with the research team to develop high-quality technical accounting and external reporting training data.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
