Location: Irlam, Manchester (hybrid – 2–3 days per week in the office)

Salary: £28,000–£30,000 per annum pro-rata
Contract: 3-month fixed-term contract
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Start date: As soon as possible

About the role

Following the recent implementation of a new business system, we are looking for a detail-oriented Technical Administrator – Data Migration to ensure our migrated data is accurate, complete, and consistent. You will review and correct records, identify discrepancies and duplicates, and help maintain high data quality standards. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with data and takes pride in getting the details right.

Key responsibilities

  • Check migrated records against source data, identifying missing information, duplicates, and errors.
  • Correct and update records accurately within business systems.
  • Use Excel to cleanse, reconcile, and validate large datasets.
  • Maintain progress trackers and a clear audit trail of changes.
  • Investigate data issues and escalate unresolved discrepancies.
  • Work with colleagues and system owners to verify conflicting information.
  • Handle confidential information securely and in line with GDPR.
  • Report progress against agreed priorities and deadlines.

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables, conditional formatting, data validation, and text/date functions.
  • Experience in high-volume data entry, data cleansing, or reconciliation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and learn new systems quickly.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence in querying unclear information.
  • Understanding of data confidentiality and GDPR.

Desirable:

  • Experience of a system migration or data clean-up project.
  • Knowledge of Power Query, macros, or basic VBA.
  • Experience of quality checking data or tracking project progress.

About you

You will be organized, reliable, and comfortable working through detailed, repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy. You will take ownership of your work and confidently raise issues when information needs further investigation.
