Technical Advisor

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week
Salary: £40,000 per annum to £44,000 per annum (London weighted salary) dependant on experience.
Grade: 7
Reporting Office: London, Stratford
Persona: Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/working location (hybrid working). Site, home and office attendance.

Are you an experienced Gas Engineer looking to take the next step in your career and use your technical expertise in a broader advisory role?

Our Property Services Building Compliance team is looking for a Technical Advisor to join the Heating and Hot Water team on a permanent, full-time basis.

Reporting to the Heating and Hot Water Operational Managers, you’ll use your technical knowledge and practical experience to provide advice and support on gas safety, heating breakdowns, compliance, legislation and technical procedures across our homes. You will be required to attend site regularly to use your technical knowledge in a role focused on quality, safety and compliance.

You’ll work closely with our gas contractors, inspecting the quality and compliance of works completed in both occupied and void properties, challenging standards where necessary and providing technical guidance to help resolve complex issues.

You’ll also work with residents and internal teams to ensure our domestic and commercial gas and renewable heating systems are safe, compliant and maintained to a high standard, while helping us deliver a reliable repairs service for our residents.

Your impact in the role:

You will have experience working with contractors, dispute resolution, looking at specifications, holding meetings, looking at performance and ensuring that KPIs and targets are set and met with L&Q’s partners. It will be key to ensure that our contractors provide an outstanding service to our residents and that any issues are dealt with efficiently and are investigated as required in order to put any failures back on track.

The post holder will need to have had experience working statutory authorities, suppliers and consultants promoting best practise and contributing towards L&Q’s positive reputation within the industry.

You will contribute legislation change and to promote the work of the trust. This means you will need to have an up to date CPD and will be committed to being knowledgeable about changes in legislation and compliance frameworks. The post holder will ensure H&S, regulatory & governance compliance for areas under the technical advisor’s control.

What you'll bring:

  • Level 3 Gas Engineering or Level 2 plus experience – Essential and current
  • A valid driving license and car is essential for this role
  • Technical knowledge of Gas Compliance and knowledge of working across a varied housing stock
  • Service background and quality assurance
  • Commitment to delivery of good customer service
  • Experience in a Customer facing role.
  • Ability to work in harmony with a number of contractors.
  • Performance Management skills
  • Up to date legislation knowledge and commitment to CPD
  • A good understanding of solid fuel, oil, LPG and renewables is advantageous
