About Our Client

Our client is a UK-based energy analytics and consulting firm focused on helping organisations understand and manage value, risk, and revenues across energy markets and flexible assets. The business works across European power markets and provides sophisticated analytical and modelling capabilities to support decision-making in the rapidly evolving energy sector.

About the Role

We’re looking for a technically strong Power Technical Analyst to join the Technical Analytics team and play a key role in maintaining and developing the production analytics platform that underpins power market and flexible asset models.

This is an opportunity to combine professional Python development with quantitative modelling, optimisation, and energy market expertise. The successful candidate will work on sophisticated power market models and asset-level optimisation, contributing to the development of analytical capabilities across European energy markets.

Responsibilities

Platform Development & Maintenance

  • Maintain, test, and develop the production Python codebase underpinning power market and flexible asset models
  • Keep the platform reliable and up to date through structured maintenance, development, testing, and deployment practices
  • Continuously monitor and optimise model performance, improving accuracy, runtime, and robustness as market conditions and data evolve
  • Maintain and incrementally improve existing codebases, ensuring they remain reliable, scalable, and maintainable

Power Market Modelling & Optimisation

  • Build and extend stochastic and fundamental power market models
  • Develop and enhance asset-level optimisation modules for BESS, thermal, hydro, and other flexible assets
  • Apply and extend optimisation techniques including LP, MILP, and QP for flexible asset dispatch and value-stacking
  • Support optimisation across wholesale, balancing, and ancillary markets
  • Apply stochastic and statistical modelling techniques to complex power market and flexible asset challenges

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
