Job Description
As a Technical Architect, you will work alongside Solution Architects, professional services & delivery teams to realise proof of concepts, maintain highly functioning technical solutions and processes as well as design & deliver mission-critical solutions into live operational service, providing support & consultancy to the engineering delivery teams throughout the project delivery lifecycle.
Job activity & responsibilities:
- Work alongside Solution Architects to realise proof of concept solutions.
- Perform Product evaluations & report on suitability for live operational use.
- Provide technical consultancy to the product team relating to the non-functional roadmap.
- Review & feedback into the solution catalogue.
- Complete architecture tasks for major change projects.
- Assist the Project manager in project planning (tasks and effort).
- Assist the Project manager in confirming project equipment orders.
- Prepare for and complete Engineering milestone reviews.
- Produce solution designs to NECSWS standards & format, according to customer requirements.
- Presentation of designs and supporting rationale to internal and external audiences.
- Maintain and update designs through project change process.
- Triage and assign Engineering tasks (Using Azure DevOps work items process).
- Complete the necessary Engineering milestone reviews and artifacts.
- Support the project delivery team with technical issues.
- Review Workplans for project implementation activities / approve through change process.
- Perform customer solution technical migration planning.
- Maintain technical documentation as required (e.g., work instruction updates).
- Ensure all project documentation is created, completed, and stored appropriately in readiness for support handover.
The role holder would need to accept a car allowance for business travel.
The role can involve extensive customer contact on both a technical and non-technical level requiring a professional and adaptable approach to communication, interaction & service.
The role involves a high level of autonomous working which expects a high standard of personal time and task management.
Continually follow and adhere to NECSWS outlined process & procedures.
Complete all activities within set deadlines and report appropriately any difficulties to achieve delivery milestones.

Qualifications
Essentially what we require from you:
Who are you:
- Eligible for SC and NPPV clearance, so you must have lived in the UK for at least 5 consecutive years.
- Educated to HND/HNC level or relevant industry experience with a minimum of 2-years proven experience in a comparable role/s.
- Proven experience in developing proof of concepts.
- An understanding of non-functional requirements and their impact on technical design.
- Experience in learning and investigating new technologies.
- Proven experience within IT-focused server & client-based environments.
- Experienced in requirements capture.
- Proven experience in producing technical design documentation.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Proven experience administering and working with Microsoft Windows client & server architecture (Windows 10 /11, up to Server 2025), primarily using DELL hardware or similar.
- A good understanding of Microsoft Active Directory / domain architecture.
- A good understanding and experience of using Microsoft Hyper-V or VmWare.
- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Experience using design and documentation tools e.g., MS Visio, also using MS Applications including Excel/Word.
- A high standard of written communication.
- Experience using MS Business Applications including Excel, Word.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proven experience working to ITIL best practices.
Nice to haves:
- Proven experience working with mission-critical solutions.
- Extensive experience of developing technical solution designs for IT-based systems.
- Proficiency in formal design methodologies such as TOGAF.
- An understanding of the SIP protocol.
- Scripting experience / Knowledge (Batch, MYSQL, PowerShell).
- Hyper-V Failover Clustering experience / Knowledge.
- Telephony experience / Knowledge (Cisco UCCE/Avaya Blue/Avaya Red/Mitel/Shortel/Asterix).
- Knowledge of MySQL/MSSQL (User Admin, Creation of jobs including backups, writing / understanding queries).
- Proven experience with Microsoft Azure (solution design, deployment, or security).

OTHER INFORMATION
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK. Documentary evidence will be required.

Depending on the nature of the role, a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check may also be required.
This position requires you to either currently have national security vetting clearance at the Security Check (SC) level or higher, Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) Level 3, or the ability to gain Enhanced Security Clearance in addition to the Baseline Personnel Security Standard.
