What you’ll be doing
As a Technical Architect, you’ll translate high-level solution designs into clear, scalable and secure low-level designs that support engineering teams to deliver effectively.
- Working closely with Solution Architects, Engineering Principals, Developers, Product Owners and SREs, you’ll ensure solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements while aligning to architectural standards.
- You’ll operate across multiple domains, supporting delivery, managing technical debt, improving standards and driving innovation through proof-of-concepts and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities
- Produce and maintain Low-Level Designs aligned with solution architecture and evolving business needs.
- Ensure designs meet architectural standards and governance processes.
- Publish and maintain API contracts and support developer enablement.
- Identify and manage technical debt, supporting prioritisation and continuous improvement.
- Drive refactoring and technical improvement initiatives across domains.
- Support incident investigation and resolution with engineering teams.
- Lead documentation and standardisation across product areas.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept activity.
- Translate solution designs into actionable work items and help shape requirements.
- Manage and optimise cloud and infrastructure costs.
- Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to align on best practice.
- Review third-party designs to ensure alignment with standards and strategy.
- Advise stakeholders, assess risks and support informed decision-making.

Interested? Here’s what you’ll need to be successful
- Strong experience designing and delivering technical solutions within complex environments.
- Hands-on AWS experience (including serverless) and strong knowledge of Java and Spring Boot.
- Understanding of modern coding practices, API design and object-oriented principles.
- Experience with distributed systems, messaging architectures and a range of database technologies.
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles and modern engineering practices.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
- Collaborative and proactive, with the ability to influence across cross-functional teams.
- Experience identifying technical debt and driving continuous improvement.
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science or equivalent experience; AWS certifications are desirable.
