New long term contract for the role of Technical Architect (AI-Powered E-commerce Chatbot)

Location: London (Hybrid- 1 day)
Contract Duration: 1 Year
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

The Role

This role will play a key part in shaping the future of AI-driven customer engagement for one of the UK's leading retailers. You will lead the architecture and design of intelligent e-commerce chatbot platforms, leveraging Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, cloud-native technologies, and enterprise integrations. The role requires strong technical leadership, architecture governance and innovation to deliver scalable, secure and personalized conversational experiences.

Your Profile

Key Responsibilities

  • Define enterprise architecture for AI-powered conversational commerce platforms.
  • Develop technical roadmaps and solution strategies for chatbot and Generative AI initiatives.
  • Lead architecture reviews, solution design workshops and technical governance activities.
  • Design scalable integration patterns between chatbot platforms and enterprise retail ecosystems.
  • Establish AI monitoring, observability, compliance and operational support frameworks.
  • Drive innovation through the evaluation and adoption of emerging AI technologies and industry best practices.
  • Support business transformation objectives through strategic technology leadership and architecture guidance.

Hands-on Skills Required – Technical Architect (AI-Powered E-commerce Chatbot)

  • Proven experience designing enterprise-scale conversational AI and chatbot architectures.
  • Hands-on expertise with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, or equivalent LLM platforms.
  • Experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using vector databases and enterprise knowledge sources.
  • Strong knowledge of API-led architecture, microservices and event-driven integration patterns.
  • Experience designing cloud-native solutions on Azure and/or AWS platforms.
  • Strong understanding of AI governance, security, compliance and Responsible AI principles.
  • Ability to drive architecture decisions, mentor teams and lead technical delivery across complex programs.
