Technical Architect - Glasgow - £725 Outside IR35 - 6 Months (plus extensions)
Hi there,
Lorien are currently supporting a key public sector client, in the search for an experienced Technical Architect.
This role is based in Glasgow, offering hybrid working arrangements. It is an initial 6-month contract with potential extensions up to 23 months.
It is an Outside IR35 contract paying up to £725 per day.
Key Responsibilities
- Define solution architectures for AWS-based containerised platforms
- Provide technical leadership across multiple delivery streams
- Work closely with engineering teams to solve technical challenges and provide architectural guidance
- Support architecture governance and design assurance activities
- Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and shape solutions
- Work across complex programmes with multiple workstreams and dependencies
- Provide hands-on support to delivery teams where required
- Contribute to technical decision-making and strategic direction
- Support Agile delivery teams throughout the delivery lifecycle

Key Skills & Experience
- AWS experience within the last two years (hands-on preferred)
- Experience with at least two of the following:
- Java
- Spring Boot
- MySQL
- Aurora DB
- Experience designing solutions on AWS-based containerised platforms
- Experience working within Agile environments (Scrum and/or Kanban)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience working across multiple teams and programmes simultaneously
- Demonstrable hands-on experience supporting delivery teams and resolving technical issues
- Ability to quickly understand complex technical environments and become self-sufficient
- Experience producing architecture artefacts and guiding solutions through governance processes

Desirable Experience
- Existing SC Clearance
- Public sector or government programme experience
- Cloud-native architecture experience
- Experience within highly regulated environments
- Experience delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes
- AWS cloud migration or modernisation projects
