TrueNorth is recruiting a Senior Technical Architect to support a central government client.
The focus is on developing solutions at a technical level and taking them through architecture governance. We’re looking for someone who can turn requirements into practical designs, explain technical decisions and work with stakeholders to secure approval.
AWS and containers experience would be beneficial, as would previous experience presenting designs to government design authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop technical solution designs, translating requirements and constraints into an implementable approach.
- Produce design documentation and supporting material for architecture governance reviews.
- Present solutions through governance, respond to challenge and progress designs towards approval.
- Identify architectural risks and dependencies, documenting decisions and proposed mitigations.
- Work with senior stakeholders, architects and delivery teams to agree technical direction.
- Keep designs aligned with wider architecture principles, standards and strategy.
- Guide delivery teams through implementation and refine designs in response to feedback.
- Provide constructive technical challenge and share knowledge with colleagues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
