Role: Technical Architect

Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-time

Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience, qualifications, and location. Indicative range: $140,000 – $220,000 (USD equivalent), plus benefits.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Technical Architect to define the architectures that the engineering organisation builds on. The role combines deep system design expertise with cross-team influence — shaping how systems fit together over the long arc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve target architecture across major platform areas
  • Lead architecture reviews and technical decision processes
  • Partner with engineering teams on system design and integration patterns
  • Author architecture decision records, RFCs, and technical strategy documents
  • Mentor senior engineers and codify architectural principles
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and shape build-vs-buy decisions

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 8+ years in software engineering, with significant architecture experience
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
  • Track record of designing systems that scaled to significant load
  • Excellent written communication, including RFCs and technical strategy
  • Experience influencing across teams without direct authority
  • Strong mentorship and consultative leadership style
