General Description
The Technical Asset Manager will provide technical leadership and owner/operator oversight for the Ocean Winds operational portfolio in the UK. The role is responsible for maximising asset safety, reliability, availability and long-term value, while ensuring effective performance from O&M contractors, turbine OEMs and other key suppliers.
As a conduit between Operations, Asset Integrity, Commercial Asset Management, and the Procurement functions, the Technical Asset Manager will translate technical issues and opportunities into clear business decisions and ensure the owner and operators interests are protected throughout the operational lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Asset Management
- Act as the owner/operator’s technical representative for assigned offshore wind assets.
- Maintain oversight of asset condition, performance, reliability and technical risk.
- Monitor and challenge asset availability, production, losses and maintenance performance.
- Identify emerging technical issues and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Support root-cause investigations into significant failures and recurring issues.
- Develop and maintain asset performance and lifecycle improvement plans including Annual Asset Management Plans.
O&M and Contractor Management
- Provide strategic oversight of O&M activities across all assets, ensuring a consistent approach to operational performance, maintenance delivery, and risk management.
- Coordinate and align Operations, Asset Management, Engineering, HSE, Marine and Commercial leads to drive integrated decision-making and fleet-wide best practice.
- Empower functional leads to take ownership of key performance areas, ensuring clear accountability, effective governance, and timely resolution of operational issues.
- Provide technical challenge and oversight to O&M contractors, OEMs and specialist suppliers, ensuring delivery aligns with contractual obligations and asset objectives.
- Monitor performance against KPIs, technical requirements and service levels, driving continuous improvement across assets and suppliers.
- Review maintenance strategies, major interventions, failure investigations and remedial actions, ensuring lessons learned are shared and implemented across the portfolio.
- Support the management of O&M contracts, including performance management, variations, claims and commercial optimisation opportunities.
- Build collaborative supplier relationships while maintaining appropriate owner oversight, challenge and accountability to maximise asset value and operational effectiveness.

Asset Integrity & Lifecycle Support
- Maintain oversight of asset integrity and critical technical risks.
- Develop lifecycle strategies for major components and critical systems.
- Assist in major component replacement, refurbishment and life-extension programmes.
- Identify future CAPEX and major maintenance requirements and ensure inclusion in Business plans and lifecycle strategies.
- Ensure operational experience and lessons learned are incorporated into asset management strategies.
Commercial & Investment Support
- Provide technical input to annual budgets, forecasts and long-term business plans.
- Translate technical risks and opportunities into commercial and financial impacts.
- Support business cases for special projects, asset upgrades and performance improvements.
- Provide technical input to acquisitions, divestments, refinancing and technical due diligence where required.
Governance & HSE
- Ensure assets are managed in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements and certification obligations.
- Support effective management of technical and operational risk.
- Promote strong HSE performance across the asset and supply chain.
- Maintain appropriate technical records, risk registers and asset performance reporting.
Required Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
- Applicable professional experience or other qualifications will be considered.
Experience and Competencies
Essential
- Significant experience in renewable energy or a comparable complex operational environment.
- Experience in asset management, O&M, engineering or technical management.
- Strong understanding of asset performance, reliability, maintenance and lifecycle management.
- Experience managing or technically overseeing O&M manufacturers and contractors.
- Commercial and financial awareness of large operating infrastructure projects.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
- Able to create, capture, preserve, share, communicate and apply knowledge so it can be effectively reused to strengthen individual decision making, improve team effectiveness and enhance business performance

Desirable
- Previous experience with an offshore wind developer, asset owner or owner-operator.
- Thorough understand of joint-venture relationships and operational management contracts.
Languages
Ocean Winds has an international team of employees, and the working language is English. Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written. Proficiency in other languages will be valued.
Location
Ocean Winds operate a flexible working policy. The main office location will be Edinburgh, but travel to O&M facilities in Fraserburgh and Buckie may be required.
