The role focuses on maximising asset availability, generation, reliability, safety, and long-term value through proactive performance monitoring, technical analysis, contractor management, fault resolution, and effective stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day technical performance of a portfolio comprising 105+ MW of Solar PV assets and 93 MWh of BESS.
- Monitor asset performance, availability, generation, efficiency, and operational KPIs using SCADA, monitoring platforms, and analytical tools.
- Perform statistical and trend analysis to identify underperformance, equipment degradation, recurring faults, and opportunities for optimisation.
- Investigate and coordinate the resolution of technical issues affecting inverters, transformers, switchgear, HV/LV systems, battery systems, PCS, EMS, communications, and associated balance-of-plant equipment.
- Lead technical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of operational incidents and equipment failures.
- Manage and challenge Operations & Maintenance contractors, OEMs, service providers, and other technical partners to ensure contractual and performance obligations are met.

- Track defects, outages, warranty claims, corrective actions, and technical risks through to resolution.
- Support BESS operational performance, including monitoring battery availability, state of charge, degradation, thermal management, alarms, and system performance.
- Review operational data and prepare regular performance reports, technical updates, management presentations, and recommendations for key stakeholders.
- Work closely with commercial, engineering, operations, finance, and energy trading teams to maximise portfolio performance and revenue.
- Support budgeting, lifecycle planning, major maintenance activities, and asset improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, generation, availability, operating efficiency, and whole-life asset value.
- Ensure assets and contractors operate in accordance with relevant Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, company procedures, and industry standards.
- Support technical due diligence, handover, commissioning, and integration of new Solar PV and BESS assets into the operational portfolio.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear communication on asset performance, technical risks, incidents, and improvement plans.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
