QA Inspector / Technical Assistant
£40,000–£50,000 per annum | Full-Time | 40 hours per week | Competitive Salary & Benefits
Are you an experienced QA Inspector, Technical Assistant or Passive Fire Protection professional looking to develop your career within a growing and technically focused environment?
We are looking for a QA Inspector / Technical Assistant to join our team, supporting quality assurance, technical compliance, installer competency, site assessments and continuous improvement across a range of construction projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in firestopping or passive fire protection who is looking to broaden their technical knowledge, gain greater client exposure and progress into a specialist technical role.
The Role
Working closely with the Quality Assurance and Technical teams, you will play an important role in maintaining high standards of installation quality, compliance and technical performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out quality assurance inspections of fire compartmentation and firestopping installations.
- Assessing installations against internal procedures, manufacturer requirements, certification body standards and industry guidance.
- Supporting FIRAS and external certification body compliance and audit processes.
- Providing technical guidance and installation information to operational teams under the direction of the Technical Consultant.
- Assessing installer competence and supporting improvement, training and sign-off processes.
- Delivering on-site technical briefings and training to installation teams.
- Conducting pre-commencement site audits and advising on suitable products and solutions.
- Supporting the development of project-specific passive fire protection designs, selecting appropriate products to meet required performance criteria.
- Assisting with the preparation of O&M manuals for completed projects.
- Communicating quality standards and technical requirements clearly and professionally to clients and project teams.
- Supporting compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and wider health and safety requirements.
- Attending internal and external meetings and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Keeping your technical knowledge and professional development up to date through relevant training and CPD.

About You
We are looking for someone who combines technical understanding with strong attention to detail and confident communication skills.
Essential
- Experience in a similar QA, technical, construction or compliance-focused role.
- Ideally, 3+ years' experience within the firestopping industry.
- Basic understanding of internal fit-out systems and/or MEPH.
- Confident communicating with site teams, colleagues, clients and other stakeholders.
- Comfortable leading smaller client meetings and delivering technical information.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive and practical approach.
- A genuine interest in developing your technical knowledge and career.
Desirable
- Experience or qualifications in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Passive Fire Protection / Firestopping.
- Design Management.
- IFE Level 2 or equivalent.
- CSCS card.
- Digital field inspection and recording platforms such as Onetrace or Bolster.
- Common Data Environments such as Aconex or Viewpoint.
- BIM and model-viewing platforms including Dalux, Navisworks, Revizto or Autodesk Forma.
