Technical Author – Pre-Operations

Location: Cumbria

Rate: £40.00 - £50.00 per hour (Inside IR35)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week

Overview

NRL are currently recruiting for five Technical Authors to support pre-operations activities on a major project in Cumbria. This role involves producing high-quality operational and maintenance documentation, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards within a nuclear environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce a suite of compliant, professional working-level Operation, Maintenance (O&M) and emergency instructions within defined timeframes.
  • Develop Risk Assessment requirements in support of working-level instructions.
  • Review and interpret engineering/design and vendor documentation to produce Volume C documents.
  • Conduct on-plant validation and implement post-validation updates (red pen changes) to documentation.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with stakeholders to support plant walkdowns and site familiarisation.
  • Report directly to the Pre-Operations Manager.
  • Provide weekly progress updates and attend project progress meetings.
  • Ensure safety remains the highest priority, driving a Zero Harm culture.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and consistency across all documentation produced.

  • Background in the nuclear industry.
  • Minimum HNC in a relevant discipline (Mechanical or Electrical).
  • Previous experience as a Technical Author (desirable, not essential).
  • IOSH Working/Managing Safely qualification or equivalent.
  • Relevant trade card or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to obtain SC (Security Clearance) is essential.
