Technical Author & Committee Secretary

Part-Time Contract | Remote Working | Regular Meetings in Manchester

Rate: Negotiable

Contract Length: September to December 2026 (potential to extend until July 2027)

Membership Bespoke is delighted to be supporting a respected UK technical and engineering membership organisation with the recruitment of a Technical Author & Committee Secretary on a part-time contract basis.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced technical writing professional who thrives in autonomous environments and enjoys working closely with engineers, technical specialists, committees, and senior stakeholders. Combining technical authoring, committee secretariat, and administration responsibilities, this role will play a vital part in maintaining and developing industry guidance during an important period of organisational change.

The successful candidate will take ownership of multiple workstreams, ensuring technical committees operate effectively while reviewing, updating, and standardising key technical guidance documents in line with quality management requirements.

The Role

This is a highly autonomous position requiring a proactive individual who can confidently manage competing priorities, make informed decisions, and deliver outcomes with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Acting as both a Technical Author and the primary administrative lead for committee activities, you will oversee the smooth running of technical committees while driving forward complex documentation projects across multiple working groups.

Whilst the role offers significant independence, regular support will be available through weekly prioritisation meetings with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Committee Secretariat

  • Attend regular technical committee meetings in Manchester (1-2 times a week).
  • Produce accurate minutes, action logs, and records of decisions.
  • Track and proactively follow up on agreed actions and deliverables.
  • Ensure meeting documentation is distributed promptly and accurately.
  • Build effective relationships with committee chairs, members, and stakeholders.
  • Provide continuity and administrative leadership across multiple committees and working groups.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
