Technical Author (Copy Editor / Proofreader)

Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a Technical Author to ensure the quality, clarity, and accuracy of the reports we deliver after testing our clients’ information security.

This role is ideal for pentesters looking to step away from hands-on testing and who have a keen eye for writing reports; or skilled proof-readers and copy editors with a keen interest (or experience) in cyber security. Previous similar experience may be helpful, although the style of our technical reports differs considerably from help manuals and similar software documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for quality assurance of the technical reports delivered to NCC Group’s clients
  • Consistency and technical accuracy of these reports
  • Copy editing reports – ability to supply alternative / improved content; for example, summarising business risk from technical findings
  • Proofreading; a high level of attention to detail and confidence with respect to spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Ability to translate cyber security and other technical concepts into clear, concise language easily understood by the intelligent, non-technical reader
  • Creation and maintenance of library content used to assemble reports
  • Proactive and ongoing reviews of any material which is consumed by clients
  • Able to engage with the management team
  • Able to engage with other departments within NCC Group such as Sales, HR, Project Management

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong attention to detail in spelling, grammar, and structure
  • Ability to translate technical details for a non-technical audience
  • Self-motivated with an interest in cyber security and risk management
  • Familiarity with in-house reporting tools and technical libraries
  • Relevant industry certifications will undoubtedly aid your application (CISSP preferred)
