Job Description
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Technical Authority (TA) provides expert technical guidance and decision-making support for all Fire & Safety system designs, processes, and practices to ensure the Company adheres to required standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
This is a pivotal role to deliver protection solutions and drive innovation in line with the evolving technologies and market developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and expert technical support to design and engineering activities
- Support the establishment and maintenance of technical standards, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with necessary regulations, standards, and certification requirements
- Remain conversant with the relevant codes to ensure the appropriate certification code for products (e.g., VDS, NFPA) aligns with the project needs of EN (and other) requirements and applicable legislation (e.g., PED)
- Liaise with existing oil & gas operators and understand their working assets and provide solutions for upgrading fault finding to allow for continued production of aging and extended life Assets
- Work with new and existing clients on developing innovative solutions for new and developing projects
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risks, helping to identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies via risk assessments
- Support the Sales and Commercial teams for estimating and completion of bids/tenders – and as required in their client interaction
- Support employee development through mentoring and coaching activities
- Conduct quality technical reviews with Engineer/Technician reviews and competency assessment
- Support research and development and IP opportunities, including the phase-out strategy of AFFF
- Work with other departments to ensure client expectations are met/exceeded
- Support the effective close-out of projects including identification and implementation of lessons learned
- Working with the Senior Management team to help drive business growth, in line with agreed OKRs

Qualifications/ Experience

- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related field – chartered status would be preferred
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Already a member or willing to become a member of a UK Fire association such as FPA or FIA
- Prior experience and working knowledge of systems both offshore and onshore would be beneficial
- Experience with Microsoft 365 software suite – including MS Project
- An interest in developing the use of AI tools within company and group controls
