Job Title: Technical Account & Commercialisation Manager
Job Type: Full time; permanent
Salary: £60K - £70K
About the Role
Uplift360 is commercialising ChemR, a solvolysis-based process for recovering high-performance carbon fibre from aerospace CFRP waste. We produce regenerated carbon fibre products for defence, drone, and aerospace applications, where customers understand material performance and expect engineering credibility in every conversation. Our current engagements with Babcock, Leonardo, and Rolls-Royce define the technical and commercial environment in which this role will operate.
This role sits at the intersection of materials expertise, product requirements, and customer-facing technical engagement. The Technical Account & Commercialisation Manager will be Uplift360’s primary technical voice with customers: someone who can translate ChemR material capabilities into credible part and product concepts, discuss carbon fibre, composite construction, manufacturing routes, and platform-level design with confidence, and work with customers to define clear product requirements. The role creates the technical basis for customer adoption and off-take readiness; the BD Revenue Manager then owns the commercial follow-through, proposal coordination, close planning, and conversion into signed commitments.
About Uplift360
Uplift360 is an Advanced Materials Company securing sovereign supply for Europe’s defence, security, and vital industries.
We secure and produce critical advanced materials, including carbon fibre and aramids, for European defence and industry by sourcing, recovering, and regenerating high-value materials into secure industrial supply chains.
As geopolitical instability, supply chain fragility, and industrial competition intensify, access to advanced materials is becoming a defining strategic advantage.
Uplift360 is building the infrastructure and technology required to secure it.
As a Technical Account & Commercialisation Manager, your key accountabilities will include:
- Materials into parts and product concepts: Translate ChemR material capabilities into part, product, and application concepts for target customers — defining where our fibre properties create real value in aerospace, defence, and drone platforms, and what product requirements customers would need to agree before off-take.
- Technical customer conversations: Lead technical conversations on integrating new fibre types and manufacturing techniques into customer products and platforms. Serve as the credible engineering voice in customer meetings, particularly across defence, drone, and aerospace applications.
- Product opportunity identification: Identify and scope new product opportunities arising from Uplift360’s material properties and process capabilities. Think across fibre formats, composite architectures, part-level applications, and platform integration requirements to define where ChemR can displace incumbent materials and where product requirements can support customer off-take.
- R&D and engineering bridge: Bridge between the R&D, Product, and the commercial function on technical feasibility and product fit. Capture customer requirements in a structured, actionable form and feed them to Product Engineering. The quality of inputs upstream directly shapes product development priorities.
- Customer-facing technical ownership: Build trusted relationships with technical stakeholders at target accounts and support commercial engagement with engineering and procurement teams at defence primes, drone manufacturers, and aerospace OEMs.
- Technical account support and opportunity readiness: Support assigned customer opportunities by maintaining clear technical actions, stakeholder maps, product requirement status, and technical decision criteria. Work with the BD Revenue Manager and CCO to ensure each qualified opportunity has the technical evidence, product fit, and customer requirement clarity needed for commercial progression.
- Grant project scoping: Contribute technical product and application insight to the scoping and early development of Innovate UK, APC, and Horizon-type project applications where relevant. Support internal and external stakeholders to define technical objectives, product requirements, partner roles, and work packages.
- Market intelligence: Stay close to developments in recycled carbon fibre markets, composites applications, and relevant funding landscapes. Feed intelligence to both reporting lines to inform product, commercial, and partnership strategy.
- Trade shows and events: Represent Uplift360 at relevant industry events. Identify and prioritise events worth attending; follow up leads systematically.
- Marketing input: Provide technical product and application insight to support marketing and communications activity, ensuring external messaging remains aligned with product capability, customer requirements, and technology roadmaps.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The key accountabilities listed above provide an overview of the role and are not intended to be exhaustive. The post holder may be asked to undertake reasonable additional duties at a similar level where required.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Personal Qualities:
- Minimum technical-commercial threshold: Candidates must be able to demonstrate customer-facing technical account capability, including structured customer follow-up, technical opportunity qualification, product requirement definition, and awareness of what is needed to support customer adoption or off-take readiness. This role does not require a pure sales profile, but purely technical candidates without customer ownership, requirement discipline, or commercial awareness are unlikely to meet the requirements.
- Candidates should be ready to discuss examples where they have taken a material, technology, or product concept into customer-facing technical engagement, shaped or agreed product requirements, maintained follow-up discipline, and created the technical confidence needed for adoption, funding, or commercial progression.
- Strong carbon fibre and composites knowledge — processing routes, fibre formats, composite architectures, and performance characteristics. Not a generalist composites background; we need someone who understands CF specifically and can engage with structural engineers at aerospace primes.
- Relevant engineering platform experience — has worked on, designed for, qualified, commercialised, or sold into defence, aerospace, drone, or other advanced composite applications. Understands qualification processes, design constraints, and what it takes to introduce a new material into demanding performance-led environments.
- Direct customer or partner-facing technical account experience — has owned external technical-commercial relationships, not just supported them. Can build trust with engineering, product, programme, and procurement stakeholders, maintain momentum between meetings, and translate technical engagement into agreed product requirements or adoption pathways.
- Strong written and verbal communication — able to write clearly and present confidently to both engineering and procurement audiences. Can translate between material science and platform-level performance requirements in both directions.
- Comfortable working in an early-stage business — ambiguity, shifting priorities, and a degree of self-direction come with the territory.
- Structured customer and requirement management — has used a CRM, requirements tracker, or equivalent system to record customer context, technical actions, product requirements, decision criteria, and follow-up ownership. Understands how disciplined technical account management supports pipeline progression without owning full revenue conversion.
- Commercial team interface — understands where this role ends and the BD Revenue Manager role begins. Can create the technical basis for off-take by clarifying customer need, product fit, requirement status, and technical decision criteria, then work hand-in-glove with the BD Revenue Manager on commercial follow-through, proposal development, and conversion.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Experience with carbon fibre recycling or regenerated fibre products — rCF supply landscape, qualification challenges, and where recycled fibre fits (and doesn’t fit) in aerospace and defence applications.
- Existing network in defence, drone, or aerospace composites — knows the engineering counterparts at primes, Tier 1s, or UAV manufacturers who make material decisions.
- Experience contributing to Innovate UK, APC, or Horizon grant applications — scoping, writing, or building consortia, not just delivery.
- Familiarity with drone or UAV platform design and the composites integration challenges specific to that sector — weight, repairability, low-volume production, evolving qualification standards.
- Understanding of semi-finished CF product formats — non-wovens, prepreg, woven fabrics, thermoplastic compounds — and how format selection maps to manufacturing process and end-use performance.
